Okay, it might not be a completely out there assumption from what this guy figured out, and it's kind of nice that he wants to look after her. That's good. Some part in the back of Gintoki's mind tells him that.

But the majority of his brain is too caught up in furious disbelief. It doesn't really have its roots in anything reasonable, but he has killed so many people that he cared for - people he loved - and knows he might very well kill at least one more because he sees no other choice, and every time chips away at his torn and scarred soul. A soul he won't let die, but one that is so damaged now that ... press the right buttons and he loses it.

This isn't quite there yet, but it is enough for him to flip it from text to video. He's getting faster at typing, but it's still a pain in the ass. And he won't get this across properly with a text message.

He may look angry, but if you look closely enough you might just spot a slight hint of pain in his eyes. ]

I wouldn't singe a single hair on her head, if that's what you're thinking. But I would do more than that on anyone who dared do so to her.

[The provocation expert strikes again, although he had no idea how close his relationship with Miu was/is. He was merely bringing the conversation full circle, inadvertently denying his bratlike status (he's too old!!).

The switch is an unexpected one; the surprise is written across his face as soon as Gintoki pops on-screen. His head tilts to the side. To think all of this started out as some dumb text-chainletter joke.]

Isn't that how it should be? It's good to know she's managed to find the right friends.

But you shouldn't underestimate her either. She's an honorary member of our frat club.

[ And just like that, after a few seconds of silence accompanied by some blinking, the anger and pain is gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by the usual dead fish eyes. It's the sign of the walls going right back up, but anyone who doesn't know him that well might not quite realise what that means. ]
